Dr. Yinan Wei is a Board-Certified General Surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She grew up in the Bay Area, attended high school in Fremont, and received a B.A. in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Wei has been aspiring to become a surgeon since she was seven years old after discovering surgeries being performed on a local college channel. She achieved her goal after completing her medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine and general surgery residency at Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. After completing her surgical training, Dr. Wei was recruited as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Marshall University due to her exceptional commitment to patient care and excellent surgical outcomes. During her time there, she was able to fulfill her passion for delivering medical care to communities in need as well as her passion for teaching the next generation of surgeons.
Dr. Wei relocated to San Jose in 2024 to give back to the community that raised her and helped her to achieve her dreams. She has a broad experience in general surgery and continuously hones her skills in both traditional and advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures. Beyond her surgical skills, she strives to create an atmosphere of trust by listening to her patients, addressing their concerns, respecting their values, and empowering them to take an active role in their care.
Outside of the operating room, Dr. Wei is passionate about giving back to the community and embracing activities that spark creativity and inspiration. In her free time, she enjoys exploring immersive worlds through video games, which challenge her problem-solving skills and provide a sense of adventure. She also finds inspiration in nature through hiking and surfing, as well as traveling to experience the diversity and beauty of cultures around the world. These interests remind her of the importance of connection and resilience of the human spirit---qualities she strives to honor in her practice every day.
